About The Waggon & Horses
A village pub with great food and friendly atmosphere
Myself and Wendy have been regulars in the pub and over the years we have built a friendship group that no one could put a value on – we have celebrated many family occasions at the pub and it has truly been ‘our third place’. We go to work, go home and then to the Waggon. It’s been our sanctuary and location for fun for some 15 years. In July 2018 we felt compelled to take action when the pub was vacated. Feeling so passionate about the place we agreed to take on the tenancy with the aim of making the Waggon the best village pub in the area.
We are delighted to say that Steve Paton, one of the regions finest became Executive Chef – many of you will know Steve for his culinary skills and he is working with me to run the business.
We now rotate our menus to reflect the seasons. Our vision is to build on a country pub feel with a broad selection of beers, wines and spirits. Our menu will feature quality traditional food with a weekly specials board. All our ingredients are sourced locally. We also introduce game to the specials board when in season.
We now regularly run a whole host of different events, building upon the highly popular quiz night every Monday and Curry Night every Thursday. We plan to host other themed events that reflect the character, feel and culture of both the pub and the community.
We are still excited about the future and hope you will support us in building The Waggon and Horses to be the best country pub in the North.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
